Today I was able to learn a different approach to teaching by Ms. Cassidy from Moose Jaw, Canada. As a first grade teacher, she used the technology given by the school to provide her students with a background of writing and communicating with technology. As an educator I will use this technique Ms. Cassidy used to teach students how to write complete sentences. She provided the students with blogs and gave them guidelines on what to write. On their blogs, the students were able to see the large amount of people who visited their page. When teaching children about the internet and blogging, there will be parents who are concerned about their child's safety. This is a reasonable and common concern parents have, so as an educator I am to provide the parents with comfort and guidelines which will keep the student safe. There are many benefits to teaching children about technology and its uses. Students who learn at an early age to properly use Blogger, Skype, and other tools, will be responsible and have a schema of technology.

ReplyDeleteI love how your post is short, sweet and too the point. My favorite type of technology she uses in her class is the Nintendo DS to teach her students responsibility by taking care of their NintenDog. What was yours?
